We advise all tenants vacating for the holidays to make sure your property is left secure, with no windows left open. Any valuables recommended to be taken with you, or as advised in your Tenancy to have the necessary contents insurance in place.
Over the holiday period, many tenants will wish to go away and visit relatives and friends during the winter period. For most properties it will be necessary to maintain the central heating on a low or normal setting to maintain a heat flow though the pipes to prevent freezing or place the central heating systems on a low setting and set the timer for the central heating to come once in the morning and in the evening.
As with freezing temperatures a strong possibility, there is a risk of pipes freezing and causing damage in the property - which is costly and could be your responsibility - so it's really important to keep using the heating. In addition, condensation mould can easily build up if the property is cold, so using the heating will help avoid this too.

In the event of a gas leak or should you suspect a gas leak the contact you need to ring is the National Grid emergency line on 0800 111 999.
Please check whether your property has British Gas Cover, if it does then one phone call can be made to 0800 107 7798. If you property has British Gas Cover they would be able to address faults with the following, Heating, boiler and radiator issues, plumbing issues, home electrics and drainage issues. If your property does not have British Gas Cover then you can call one of the below emergency engineers (nb. please bare in mind that if you call one of these engineer's and your property has British Gas Cover then you will be wholly liable for the contractors call out.)
